Tullamarine sits right next to Melbourne Airport, and that location gives learner drivers something most suburbs cannot: exposure to freeway entries, multi-lane roundabouts, industrial traffic and varied speed zones all within a short drive. If you want to feel genuinely ready for real-world driving, this is a great place to learn.
Tullamarine is a suburb of contrasts. On one side you have quiet residential streets with wide, well-maintained roads that are ideal for early lessons. On the other, you have the airport precinct, industrial zones, and the Tullamarine Freeway, which together create some of Melbourne's busiest and most varied driving conditions. That range makes Tullamarine an outstanding place to learn, because you can progress from calm residential driving to challenging real-world scenarios without leaving the area.
In your early lessons we start on the residential streets. These roads tend to be wider and less congested than inner-suburb equivalents, which gives you more room to build confidence with steering, braking, mirror checks and basic intersection work. Tullamarine also has a good number of roundabouts, which means you get regular practice with give-way rules, indicating correctly and judging gaps in traffic. Roundabouts are a common source of anxiety for learners, so the more you encounter them during lessons the more natural they become.
As your skills develop, we introduce the more demanding roads around the airport precinct and the nearby industrial areas. Here you will encounter larger vehicles, faster-moving traffic, more complex lane markings and signage you need to read and respond to quickly. This type of driving builds the observation skills and decision-making confidence that make you a safer driver for life, not just for the test. When you are ready, we also practise freeway driving. The Tullamarine Freeway is right on your doorstep, which makes it easy to work on merging, maintaining highway speed, safe lane changes and reading exit signs under genuine conditions.
We pick you up from home, work or the station, and all lessons are in an automatic, dual-control car. Our instructor adapts the lesson to your skill level every session, so you are always being challenged at the right pace without feeling overwhelmed. Whether you are a complete beginner or close to booking your test, lessons in Tullamarine give you the variety you need to feel properly prepared.
Tullamarine learners sit their driving test at the Broadmeadows VicRoads centre, which is a short drive north-east. We include test-centre preparation as a standard part of your lesson progression. In the sessions leading up to your test, we drive the types of roads and conditions around Broadmeadows so that nothing on test day feels unfamiliar. Our driving test package includes pickup on the day, a warm-up drive beforehand, and use of our car for the test itself.
Yes, when you are ready for it. We do not put you on a freeway in your first lesson. We build up to it by first getting you comfortable with merging, mirror use and speed management on quieter multi-lane roads. Once those skills are solid, we introduce freeway driving so you can practise entering, travelling at highway speed, changing lanes safely and exiting. Tullamarine's location near the Tullamarine Freeway makes this a natural part of lessons here.
The roads around Melbourne Airport carry a mix of traffic: taxis, ride-share vehicles, shuttle buses, heavy freight trucks and regular commuters. Speed limits vary, and some sections have complex lane markings and signage. We use this area to give you experience with heavier traffic flows and reading unfamiliar signs under real conditions. Our instructor talks you through each scenario calmly, and the dual controls are always there as a safety net.
You can absolutely book a single lesson. We offer individual lessons at 45, 60 or 90 minutes so you can try us out with no commitment. That said, our lesson packs of five or ten offer a saving per lesson and suit learners who want regular, consistent practice. Most of our Tullamarine students start with a single lesson and then move to a pack once they are happy with how things are going.
Lessons from $50 (45 min) to $90 (90 min). Call or book online.
